ABOUT THE ARTIST

A lifelong artist, with a penchant toward sculpture, I began painting professionally as an avocation in 1994. It began with one mural in our bathroom at my wife’s request, which began the requests for well over a hundred murals in private residences, government buildings and churches.  Working quickly and on a large scale for many years, I developed a number of painting techniques which caused me to wonder how they would translate to a smaller canvas.

My style is a combination of the traditional and the innovative.  My love for realism and my education in social sciences led me naturally into portraits.  Now that is all I do.  I truly love my work because I know that it takes advantage of a broad range of my unique abilities.  This ranges from a diligent and competent approach to art to an empathetic understanding of every individual I convey.

As a former attorney, and corporate manager I am also quite comfortable in the corporate or professional portrait sector and have painted distinguished individuals in law, business, government, education and the ministry.

I am at home working with people and capturing their essence to be preserved for generations.  I also take a great deal of responsibility in doing it correctly. I am keenly aware that my adult portraits will in most instances outlive the individual, and are the only opportunity to correctly reflect that individual for those that never knew him or her.  Getting it wrong is simply unfair and irresponsible to that individual’s life and memory.  With regard to children, you only get one chance to capture the unique nature of your child before it is lost forever.

This is why I guarantee satisfaction with every portrait and the client is never obligated to pay until the individual is properly conveyed.
